The Balmoral Castle and the land on which it stands has touched the lives of several prominent Central Iowa families since the first recorded deed of the property, dated 1848. At that time, Des Moines was only beginning to evolve from a frontier military outpost, into a bustling new western city. The area around 42nd Street and Grand Avenue was, at that time, far west of the Des Moines city limits.

Today, the Balmoral Castle again echoes with laughter of all generations. Mark Gremler, one of Iowa's best-known financial educators, has made the  mansion the home of his financial planning practice and his Billion  Dollar Mentoring training facility with on-site dining and seminar  rooms.
